What does HVLS stand for?
HVLS stands for "High Volume, Low Speed." These industrial ceiling fans are larger in diameter, typically between 7 and 24 feet wide, and are able to move large volumes of air at low speeds. They rely on blade size and structure to create a wide and steady airflow, and because of their low speed, they are quieter than traditional fans.
How do HVLS Fans work?
The HVLS Fan works based on airflow dynamics. As the fan blades slowly rotate, they push a large stream of air downward. The air spreads outward from the center of the fan in a spiral pattern, with faster air in the middle and slower air around the edges. When the airflow hits the ground, it moves outward in all directions, creating a broad, gentle breeze that covers thousands of square feet.
This effect, known as floor spray circulation, has several benefits:
Lowers perceived temperature by 6-10°F (about 2-3°C)
Promotes even air distribution
Reduces humidity and condensation
Reduces HVAC usage and energy bills
Common Applications for HVLS Fans
At CorTec Fan, we serve a wide range of industries that require HVLS Fan installations.
Warehouses and Distribution Centers
HVLS Fans keep workers cool and products dry, reducing heat stress and humidity-related health issues.
Manufacturing Plants Maintain optimal operating conditions near machinery and equipment, reduce equipment overheating, and improve overall air quality.
Retail and commercial spaces Provide a comfortable environment for customers and employees while maintaining quiet operation, most commonly large gyms
Agricultural Facilities
Enhance air circulation for livestock and crop storage. Extra large energy-efficient fans are a must-have for barns, greenhouses and dairy farms.
Sports halls, gyms and event halls Ensure spectator comfort, reduce ventilation costs and prevent air stagnation.
Why invest in a HVLS Fan from CorTec Fan?
Many people think fans are only a summer necessity. But HVLS Fans are a year-round investment.
In the summer, they enhance evaporative cooling by gently blowing air across building surfaces.
In the winter, they can be set to rotate counterclockwise, pushing warm air from the ceiling back to the ground, reducing heating costs.
The CorTec Fans system is designed to maximize airflow using an aerodynamic blade design, direct drive motor, and intelligent control system
